    It’s Interventional (formally UK Medical) have been providing this service to UK clinicians since 2008 and have a wealth of experience in making sure the process is both smooth and fast. We will typically have a ‘custom-made’ stent in your hands within four weeks from the initial request from yourselves.     Custom Biliary – Biodegradable Stent

    Treatment of benign biliary stenosis can present significant challenges that many clinicians and interventional endoscopists can relate to.

    Off-the-shelf solutions often involve compromise, especially when patient-specific anatomy or pathology demands more precision.

    • Benign biliary stenosis can be difficult to treat effectively with standard stent sizes and designs.
    • Clinicians often have to settle for the “closest fit”, which may not always yield optimal results.

    Custom Tracheal & Bronchial – Biodegradable Stent

    Tracheal and Bronchial stenting for complex benign disease can be difficult to navigate, add to that the challenges managing post-natal complications, such as malformed trachea in newborn babies and the management options become even harder to navigate.

    Did you know the first ever tracheal biodegradable (BD) stent in the UK was placed at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), and it was used as part of an innovative approach to support a stem cell-grown trachea. This was a landmark procedure in paediatric airway surgery and regenerative medicine.

    Key points:

    • Tracheal and bronchial stenting for complex benign airway disease can be extremely challenging, especially in newborns with congenital tracheal anomalies.
    • Postnatal complications, such as malformed or underdeveloped airways, often require creative and cutting-edge solutions.
    • Using a biodegradable stent avoids some of the long-term risks associated with traditional metallic or silicone stents.
    • The case at GOSH involved a scaffold-based approach, where the BD stent helped maintain airway structure while the stem-cell tissue matured and integrated.

    Paediatric Nitinol Stents

    Over the years we have provided a number of nitinol stents for use in the oesophagus specifically for paediatric use. The current options are limited, so having this as an available service provides an essential component for paediatric clinicians.

    Do you have a requirement for a stent that does not exist currently?

    Ella CS stents are handmade devices, meaning they can manufacture any GI or airway stent for any purpose. If you have a challenging case and the right stent simply doesn’t exist, please get in touch, we can have blanket UKRP and MHRA approval to supply prescribed devices.

    In short, the right stent DOES exist, you just have to ask, and we will do the rest!
